It was 1971 and I was in the sixth form at Hamond’s Grammar in dear old Swaffham, and had the distinction of being the only pupil to study for an ‘A’ Level in Religious Education, an occurrence so rare the Religious Education master felt that he wasn’t qualified to teach the subject at that level, and so I was pretty much left to my own devices.
I was also an atheist.
This song, which brings down the curtain on side two of Aqualung, pretty much sums up how I felt at the time.
